PEOPLE who feel under the weather over the bank holiday weekend are being advised to consult a pharmacist when their doctor’s practice is closed.

GPs’ surgeries will be shut tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Pharmacies will be open as usual on Saturday and some will open on Friday and Monday as follows: Good Friday: Superdrug, Old George Mall, Salisbury and Boots, Silver Street, Salisbury open 8.30am to 5.30pm. Tesco, Southampton Road, Salisbury, open 11am to 4pm.

Easter Monday: Lloyds, Market Place, Salisbury, 10am to 4pm. Boots, Silver Street, Salisbury, open 8.30am to 5.30pm. Tesco, Southampton Road, 11am to 4pm.

No pharmacies are open on Easter Sunday.

NHS area medical director Dr Liz Mearns said: “Pharmacists can diagnose and treat a large number of conditions as well as help answer questions about medication.

“If you need advice outside pharmacy hours, dial 111, the NHS specialist advice line. “A&E and 999 ambulance services are for serious or life-threatening accidents and illnesses only. Please keep them free for those who really need them.”
