MAY Day was celebrated by villagers in Ansty in what has been a tradition since the 16 the century.
Ella Dunkley, 11, was crowned as the May Queen, with Georgia Scott, also 11, as her attendant.
Morris dancers then danced in her honour, and there was an evening of entertainment for all.
Stalls selling cakes, plants and other produce raised about £500 for the event funds, which are currently being saved to buy a replacement maypole.
Master of ceremonies Robert Baker said: “It was a lovely evening with a great atmosphere. It is a real village event.”
