A CONFERENCE for families of teenagers with learning disabilities, learning difficulties and autism will be held by South Wilts Mencap at Exeter House School in Salisbury on Friday, May 30.

Called Mind the Gap, the conference is supported by Wiltshire Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group.

“The title Mind the Gap refers to the big gap that many special needs youngsters find when they move from the support of their school to the adult world,” said South Wilts Mencap’s trustee Anne Trevett.

“We are trying to help bridge the gap by bringing together people who provide services as well as speakers, including parents who have already experienced this stage in their youngsters’ lives, who will talk about the issues and provide some answers.”

Attendance is free with lunch provided, and there will be activities sessions for the children while their parents take part. Call 01722 326261 or 07702 565318 for more details.
