WHEN it comes to raising funds, charity boss Robert Longley-Cook doesn’t hang about.

The chief executive of Hft, which supports people with learning disabilities, has been zooming down Europe’s longest zipwire at up to 100mph, suspended 500ft over a lake at Penrhyn Quarry, North Wales.

Mr Longley-Cook, who lives in Salisbury and is based at the charity’s head office in Bristol, was joined in his exploit by his wife Sarah, son Giles and daughters Flora and Phoebe.

They were among a team of 45 people who took to the skies over the bank holiday weekend raising a total of £7,000, in the first of a series of Team Extreme events for the charity.

He said: “Soaring through the skies in such a breathtaking setting was an exhilarating and truly unforgettable experience.”
