HOMELESSNESS charity Alabaré has won a new contract to provide ten bed spaces for young people in Wiltshire who are leaving care.
Alabaré, based in Salisbury, won the Wiltshire Council contract, beginning in October, to provide ten bed spaces for young people aged 16 and 17.
The charity already provides six beds for care leavers at its Towpath House in Trowbridge, and when the new contract begins it will provide the ten beds across multiple houses, widening the support the charity provides throughout the county.
Staff will support the young residents to acquire the skills they need to transition into an independent life in their own accommodation.
They will be offered support with self care skills, sustaining their tenancy, community integration, education and training engagement, and finding work.
Vanessa Brown, Alabaré’s care and support manager for children and young people, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our young people’s team and we are delighted with this opportunity to expand our area of support for young care leavers in Wiltshire. We can’t wait to get started later this year.”
