MUSIC in the Parks is returning to Salisbury, with the first in a series of concerts to take place next weekend.

Salisbury City Council has announced the line-up for this summer’s free Music in the Parks concerts in Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

As in previous years, residents have voted for the music they would like at the events.

The opening concert on Sunday, June 22 will feature classical trio Sedici Strings. This will be followed on Sunday, July 6 by the return of nine piece Latin-dance band, Atlantic, featuring Colombian vocalist, Antonio Porras.

On the July 20 the city will mark Love Parks Weeks, a national event to highlight the way we enjoy green spaces across the country.

There will be music from the last 70 years played by the Wilton Band, and there will be lots of free activities for children of all ages.

The concerts continue on Sunday, August 3 with five piece band Balalaika bringing music from Eastern Europe to the heart of Salisbury.

The foot-tapping repertoire includes Russian, Ukrainian, and Eastern European folk tunes, tangos, Gypsy dances, Gopaks, Klezmer, waltzes and horas as well as a few surprises.

The last concerts will finish in style with tribute act Abba’s Angels on August 17.
