TWENTY-six thugs from Wiltshire have been banned from travelling to Brazil for the World Cup as police launch a crackdown on football-related violence during the tournament.

Banning orders are imposed by the courts on people who have caused or been involved in football-related violence.

As part of a national operation, Wiltshire Police has contacted all those currently subject to banning orders, and they have been ordered to hand over their passports.

Superintendent Gavin Williams said the 26 people subject to the order in Wiltshire have now surrendered their passports.
