TODDLERS at Hyde Hedgehogs Pre-School are happily settled in their temporary home at Stuckton Chapel, Stuckton, as they wait for the new community centre at Hyde Church to be completed later in the year.

The pre-school, which achieved an outstanding Ofsted accreditation after its last inspection, specialises in Forest Schools activities, which continue at Stuckton Chapel.

Head supervisors Linsday Andrews and Gina Dawkins and their team spent half-term week clearing and moving.

Ms Andrews said: “It was a big job, but we are really happy and are enjoying the new temporary space, which the children have taken to very quickly.”

When the new ’green’ Hyde Church Community Centre is completed, it will be occupied by the Hedgehogs, a mother and toddler group, a youth club, the Mother’s Union, Sunday School and prayer and support groups, as well as hosting community events. Once a week, at 10am on Tuesdays, the well-attended Hyde Hedgehogs Toddler Group also meets at the pre-school. Sessions are £2 which includes playtime, a healthy snack and singing while mums catch up and join in the fun. There will be taster sessions during the summer holidays, starting on July 25 at the Bridge Street Children’s Centre.
