POLICE are urging shops in Salisbury to be vigilant after an incident of fraud at New Look.
The incident happened at the store in High Street at 2.30pm on July 7.
A man picked a pair of earrings priced at £1.99 and initially went to pay for them with a £50 note.
He distracted the cashier and left the store with £50 and more cash that he was not entitled to.
The suspect is described as black, 6ft tall and aged in his mid to late 20s.
He was wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
Officers are asking all retailers to be extra vigilant during the school summer holidays as shops and staff are busier, providing increased opportunities for thieves.
Anyone who was in the store at the time or has information is asked to contact PC Andy Windsor at Amesbury Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
