CHANGES have been made to how Wiltshire Council tenant issues are dealt with.

At a meeting last week the tenant panel for Wiltshire voted to discontinue the panel in favour of a new housing board system which would see 30 smaller housing panels represent their areas.

The old system had a panel of nine people representing the views of more than 5,000 tenants and a Wiltshire Council spokesman said the council decided to have an independent review into how tenants' views can be best represented after a number of tenants said they felt the existing panel wasn't achieving what it should.

She said: “The review involved speaking with large numbers of tenants and, following feedback, the decision was to have about 30 smaller local housing panels representing their areas so issues can be targeted more effectively.”
