A FIRE in Amesbury has left a building damaged beyond repair.

A witness noticed a fire at The Pavilion in Holders Field at about 5.30am on Thursday when he was on his way to work .

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately by someone placing a mattress up against the wall and setting it alight in the early hours of the morning.

Wiltshire Police say the building will have to be demolished due to the damage.

Anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information can contact DC Maddie Hennah at Bourne Hill Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
