THE quick-fire satirical sketch show From Here to Absurdity is about to start the southern leg of its operation, and will perform at Bishopstone Village Hall next Sunday (October 26) as part of its current UK tour.

Written and performed by politics lecturer and Private Eye contributor Richard Kelly, From Here to Absurdity comprises 90 minutes of original comedy sketches, performed in a manner that recalls the hey-day of Peter Cook and Beyond the Fringe.

It has already performed at innumerable venues across the country and has also headlined at both the Edinburgh Fringe and Chicago Sketch Festival. A series with Radio 4 is currently being negotiated.

Kelly will be joined on stage by Ashley Hern, formerly of the Oxford University Revue, and Lucy Simons, a stand-up comedienne familiar to comedy punters in Manchester and Liverpool.

In the course of their set, the Absurdity trio will duly skewer numerous features of everyday life, including death, divorce, dysentery, dementia, devolution and Nigella Lawson.

Those with a hatred of political correctness are likely to find something amusing, as will those who feel utterly disenfranchised by modern society.

Doors open at 6.30 pm and the show starts at 7pm. Tickets are £10 including a light supper and can be booked on 01722 781044 or bvhticketoffice@btinternet.com. For more details on the show visit 2absurdity.co.uk.
