A CELEBRITY ghost hunter from Salisbury is the star of a TV show airing at midnight next Thursday on the Really TV channel.

Ray Jorden, 43, is no stranger to the limelight, having become famous through an Australian TV series that has been shown all around the world and is currently airing in Sweden.

Now Haunted: Australia is going to be shown in the UK and Ray hopes it may lead to follow-up series investigating the most haunted places all over the world.

Ray has investigated many of the well known buildings in Salisbury including the Haunch of Venison, Grovely Woods, Salisbury Train Station, 21st Century Antiques and The Cross Keys Restaurant.

He’s also tracked activity at the former Chough pub, now Bill’s, private homes in Salisbury and Wilton, the White Hart in Downton and the Duke of York pub in Salisbury, plus The Rifles Museum and Boston Tea Rooms – formerly the Bay Tree restaurant and George Hotel.

He said: “I have been interested in the paranormal since I was five.

“It’s just one of those memories that stay with you – my grandfather had a house on Devizes Road and the basement was an amazing space where we played ghosts and cowboys.

“My cousin and I were outside one day and I looked up at the kitchen window and saw my grandmother really clearly – she had died six months before.

“But I never used to tell my parents in case they sent me to get help or something.

“Then in 1999 I lost my two best friends through suicide and it sent me on a journey to find proof that people didn’t just cease to exist.

“I am also sceptical and rational and need hard proof, especially these days.

“I think everywhere in Salisbury could have activity, with all the history the city’s got it has to be possible things happen here - it’s a great place to be.”

Haunting: Australia features Ray along with another UK investigator, and four others from Australia, America and India.

It’s been so popular Down Under it’s now on its sixth repeat run.
