HORSEWOMAN Liz Wright from Ringwood says her gypsy cob Frilly is “one in a million” after reaching second place in the Horse of the Year Show.

Moortown Frilly competed in the Coloured Native/Traditional Pony class.

But it could be the last time that the spotlight will shine on the pretty, traditional Gypsy cob, who has been no stranger to the limelight, sealing victory once and reaching second place three times at the prestigious competition.

Moortown Frilly, eight, also scooped Personality of the Year at last year’s Showing World’s competition.

And Frilly’s stablemate, Temptation, a plaited riding horse, was placed sixth in the Coloured Non Native Horse Class.

Liz, who owns Moortown Stud in Crow, spoke of her delight that the pair of ponies she bred have done so well.

She said: “Frilly’s competed at the show for the last four years, with one win and three second places - not a bad record.

“She’s a pony in a million and being homebred as well, I am incredibly proud of her.

“Vicki, her rider and Frilly were their usual professional selves and never put a foot wrong.”

Liz added: “We plan to put her in foal next year, so it was quite emotional up there as it may be the last time.

“I hope she takes to motherhood as well as she has performed in the show ring.

“Temptation was a star and behaved really well for a young horse and being placed sixth in such a strong class was a fabulous achievement.”
