VETERAN broadcaster and sports commentator Murray Walker made an awards ceremony at Allenbrook Nursing Home a night to remember.
All 22 staff at Fordingbridge’s longest running nursing home celebrated the home’s 25th anniversary, each receiving a long service award.
Carer Mahala Christopher was awarded a special commendation for completing 25 years’ service. Head of housekeeping Caroline Waine was also singled out for special praise as the recipient of the June Walker Award, a prize introduced to recognise the member of staff who regularly “goes the extra mile” to make a difference to others.
Allenbrook’s manager, Ian Stott thanked the staff for their loyalty and pointed out that in a sector that is known for its high staff turnover, how remarkable it was to have so many staff with such a long connection to the home.
Allenbrook first opened in 1989 and provides nursing, respite and palliative care to older people.
