FORDINGBRIDGE firefighters will be taking on a Mount Everest challenge with a difference to boost funds for Southampton General Hospital.
The crew will be climbing the equivalent height of Mount Everest – 8,848 metres – using a ladder to climb up and down the drill tower on Saturday, December 6.
There will also be an open day, which starts from 10am, at the fire station with Fireman Sam, mini-firefighters’ uniforms and fire engines for visitors to take a look at.
Visitors can also treat themselves to bacon rolls, teas and coffees.
Tickets will be on sale for those who want to guess how long it will take the crew to reach the peak of Mount Everest.
These cost £1 and will be available during late-night shopping on Friday, November 28, and at the Co-operative in Fordingbridge on Saturday, November 29.
All proceeds will go to the Piam Brown Ward at Southampton General Hospital.
