THE Countess of Wessex is to visit the Stable Family Home Trust near Ringwood on Wednesday (January 28).

During a series of engagements in the area, Her Royal Highness will tour the garden of the home in Bisterne, and meet a number of staff, service users and volunteers who work in the garden.

She will also attend a short performance of service users 'Love in the War' in the dance and drama studio and could meet those involved in woodwork and pottery as part of her visit on Wednesday.

The Stable Family Trust was set-up as a charity in 1980 by a group of families whose children had learning disabilities.

As there were few family-based living options at that time, the charity set up a residential home at The Stables in Bisterne.

Over the years demand for the service has grown and as well as the housing at Bisterne, the charity has three homes in Soutnbourne providing residential accommodation for 33 people.

Day services provide activities for 115 people each week and domiciliary care supports 22 people in their own homes.

The Countess will also unveil a plaque commemorating her visit and receive a posy.
