CUSTOMERS queued up on Thursday to welcome Aldi's new store to Amesbury.

The new store was officially opened by deputy mayor John Swindlehurst and wife Janet.

Following its four month development off Salisbury Road it has created 32 new jobs for the local area and is currently recruiting for a range of positions.

Aldi Store Manager, Richard Staker, said: "It’s been great seeing so many customers welcoming the new Aldi store to Amesbury this morning, and we hope that they enjoy the fresh products on offer as well as our weekly 'Specialbuys'.

"We would like to thank the local community for their patience during the development and we look forward to meeting more customers in the coming months."
