AN air cadet who archived multiple honours was given a special parade to mark his seven years with the youth group.

Cadet Warrant Officer Stuart Strachan who was part of 1010 (City of Salisbury) Squadron Air Training Corps was presented with a framed print of a Spitfire aircraft, and a photograph album by Flight Lieutenant Jim Gillespie.

Flt Lt Gillespie congratulated Stuart on the hard work and dedication he has shown over the years.

He said “Cadet Warrant Officer Strachan is a fine example of what a young person can achieve within the Air Training Corps.”

Stuart was awarded a blue wing for rugby, completed a flying scholarship, obtain advanced gliding certificates, went on the international air cadet exchange to Canada and

gained a BTEC in public services.

“I could not have done all the things I have done if I had not been a cadet," he said. "It is thanks to the support given to me by the staff, and my fellow cadets, that gave me the confidence to take advantage of all the opportunities made available to me.”

The Air Training Corps is a national youth organisation for young people aged from 12 years of age (Year 8). The corps offers a wide range of activities such as flying, gliding, adventure training and sporting activities.
