THE SALISBURY Big Breakfast Event got off to a busy start as visitors flocked to the city's Guildhall for a host of seminars and workshops.

The Salisbury Journal Job Fair was among the attractions to those seeking new opportunities. People seeking their first step in a variety of careers or those simply wishing to make a move made their way to the marquee, which was sited on the Guildhall Square.

James Hay, Salisbury NHS, Tabs Training, Backline, Abicare, Wiltshire College, Nurse plus and The Army were among those represented.

Organiser Sue Kennington said: “ I was delighted to see the event get off to such a brisk start. We saw over a 100 visitors in the fist hour and it was good to see so many the city businesses represented."

Inside the Guildhall the Mayor Councillor Jo Broom performed the official opening by introducing Super Jam entrepreneur as the speaker at the first breakfast meeting of the three-day event.

Among the first day's other attractions were workshops on low cost high impact marketing, simple steps to start a business and making the best of your website.

The evening speaker was Laura Tenison MBE, founder of JoJo Maman.

The event has been brought to the city following a partnership with Salisbury City Council and various other organisations and businesses, including the Salisbury Journal.

The FSB were hosting a Trade Fair in the Marquee on Wednesday. Mary Webb, Chairman of Salisbury FSB said they were happy to support this event again this year because it brought "together a diverse spectrum of businesses from across the area. Whether someone is looking to start their business journey, consolidating where they are or looking to grow they could find all the answers in one place and find new contacts or connect with old ones sharing their business experiences."

James Fry, Director of Blue Frontier and one of the founders of the event, said: "We are extremely proud to be part of the Salisbury Big Business Event.

"As a founder member we work with our partners and have enjoyed helping the event to grow year on year, broadening its audience and reaching out to support the many business people across Salisbury and Wiltshire."
