A BILINGUAL parrot who went missing for three days has been reunited with his owner after he was found at a motocross event.

Gucci, the African Grey parrot, made a break for it when his owner Petra Zajacova took him to Old Sarum castle on Friday, April 10.

Although, he was being carefully supervised the bird managed to give her the slip.

The 30-year-old has had Gucci since he was 12-weeks-old. The talented parrot can speak Slovakian and some English words and can also count.

"We were looking for him for about two hours then we went home. I called the police and informed local pet shops and posted messages on social media that he was missing and if anybody saw him to contact me."

Petra spent the next few days looking for her beloved bird — getting up at the crack of dawn in search of Gucci after he was spotted in a park and ride in Old Sarum.

She later received a phone call from Porton Garden Centre who had been contacted by officials at a nearby motocross event saying they had found Gucci.

Describing that moment Petra said: "It was unbelievable, I was speechless and started to cry. My first question was 'is he alive?'."

The parrot was discovered at Cusses Gorse motocross track at Winterbourne Gunner on the Sunday afternoon.

"I was quite surprised. I had never ever heard of the place." added the 30-year-old. "I saw him and he was standing on one of the shelves with walkie talkies."

He came to the attention of event officials after flying onto a riders shoulders. He was taken care of by paramedic Julian Barclay, who is a bird owner.

He said: "As soon as I walked into the cabin he went on my shoulders and wouldn't get off.

"It is good to get him back to his owner."

However, this is not the first time Gucci has gone missing. He managed to escape from his home in 2011 and was found in Netherhampton Road.

He has not be left too worse for wear from his little adventure as Petra admits: "We took him home and he is happy. He has already settled down and has been whistling to Robbie Williams' song Go Gentle.

"I'm not going to give him a third chance to disappear. I am so relieved we are back together."

Petra has thanked the officials at the motocross event and Julian for taking care of Gucci and Porton Garden Centre for helping to reunite the pair. She also thanked everyone on Facebook who shared her post to help find Gucci.
