A PEDESTRIAN has been hit by a car in the centre of Salisbury.

Police and paramedics were called at 3.30pm on Wednesday following reports of a collision in New Canal.

Officers closed the road at 3.45pm and diverted traffic, with buses forced to turn in the road.

The pedestrian - believed to be a 50-year-old local man - was conscious and breathing at the scene and was taken to Salisbury District Hospital by ambulance.

It is understood he suffered only minor injuries.
