TAXI drivers and fast food outlets will be required to take training on Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) awareness before being granted an operating licence under new rules agreed by Wiltshire Council.

The plan to tackle CSE in Wiltshire sets out tough new actions for the next 12 months to ensure schools, businesses and the community join together with a zero tolerance attitude to the crime.

CSE involves children and young people being forced or manipulated into sexual activity or inciting children and young people into sexual activity.

The tough new measures were agreed on Tuesday by decision makers will be overseen by a CSE team which will dedicate time and resources to raising awareness and taking action when CSE is discovered.

Laura Mayes, cabinet member for children’s services said: “We are tackling CSE head on and ensuring businesses and the community know the signs and how to report their concerns so we can stamp out this crime together.”

The action that has been approved will look to raise awareness of CSE in schools, develop training and disrupt activities associated with CSE.
