DETAILED plans for 673 new homes at Longhedge, Old Sarum, will be unveiled on Friday.

The proposals – given outline approval by Wiltshire Council in October 2013 – include a new primary school, neighbourhood centre and 20 hectares of open space.

The application by Linden Homes and Bovis Homes is expected to be submitted in June.

Linden Homes’ planning manager, Nigel Jarvis, said: “We are pleased to be involved with this project, which will provide a host of new homes and significant local improvements.

“While we were aware of the earlier consultation, completed before our involvement, on the outline planning scheme, we wanted to ensure the community was given a chance to understand the details of the scheme as it emerges, as well as to let us know their views.”

The plans for the site, which have already been discussed with Laverstock & Ford Parish Council, will go on show between 3pm and 8pm at the Old Sarum Community Centre on Pheasant Drive.

Around 40 per cent of the new homes will be “affordable housing” and the scheme will include land for employment use.

Julian Walker, planning manager at Bovis Homes, said: “We hope that local people take the opportunity to drop into our event.

“The team looks forward to talking through the work it has completed to date and to receiving feedback.”

If the plans are approved, work is expected to start on-site in early 2016.
