A MAN who punched and kicked a woman he had dragged to the floor in a sustained attack has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Simon Andrews, 43, of London Road, Firsdown, was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for one year, at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on May 15.

Andrews admitted that on April 25 he beat Sally Hazel after he had been drinking.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80, costs of £85 and a £150 court charge by May 22.
