FORTIES favourites were back in vogue as a Salisbury residential and nursing home celebrated Care Home Open Day.

Colten Care’s Braemar Lodge joined homes across the country by opening its doors to the public for the annual community-focused initiative. The home, in Stratford Road, held a vintage tea party with live 1940s-style music from Hampshire-based singer Amanda Parsons.

Residents and visitors enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the garden being entertained with sounds from the swing era including Chattanooga Choo Choo and In the Mood.

Sylvia Rodulson, Activities Organiser at Braemar Lodge, said: “Lots of people took the chance to come in and meet staff and residents.

“Visitors are often surprised by the vibrant, happy environment they can find in a care home.

“As well as a chance to have lots of fun, Care Home Open Day is a great way to showcase the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on in care homes day in, day out.”

As well as Braemar Lodge, Colten Care held Open Day events at its homes in Hampshire and Dorset.

The family-owned nursing care provider runs 19 care homes. For more information on their services visit www.braemarlodgecare.co.uk.
