AN office administrator from Tisbury who had long hair for more than 30 years has shaved it all off to raise funds for brain tumour research and support.

Lydia Porter, 48, had the grade 2 shave on June 27 and her hair, a 28cm pony tail, was donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to boys and girls that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

She said: "I have been really touched by people's support and generosity, once they have got over the shock of what I was doing.

"The lovely ladies at 2 Dorz Down Salon have just been so helpful and supportive and their customers so generous too.

"Thankfully really short hair seems to suit me which is a huge relief to my hair dressers as well as to myself, family and friends."

Lydia's aunt died a few years ago from a brain tumour while some of her friends and work colleagues have also lost their lives to brain tumours.

She has raised more than £1,500 for The Brain Tumour Charity so far with people still able to sponsor her online at mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/lydiaporter1 until late September.
