A CITY centre business is being asked to fork out to pay for the removal of a graffiti, which was sprayed on its wall by an anti-capitalist campaigner.

Sabina Hansard was fined £200 on May 28 for daubing “UK bankers fine £150bn fine will be paid by us to them via corru...” on the wall of Afon House, which adjourns Salt Lane car park.

But as it is on private property and is not offensive, Wiltshire Council will not remove it. The police also take no responsibility.

It means the Afon House, which is a chiropractic clinic, must pay to paint over the graffiti.

Julie Haley from Afon House said the company are planning to clean it in the coming months.

She added: “It would have been nice if she had been given a community order so she could have cleaned it herself.”

Hansard, a 55-year-old homeless woman, also sprayed “UK bankers must do time” on the wall of Salisbury Post Office, which has now been cleaned off.

She was charged with three counts of criminal damage and one of theft.
