THE Guildhall had to be evacuated this afternoon (Wednesday).
The fire service was called at 3.42pm after the automatic alarm system went off.
A crew from Fordingbridge attended as the Salisbury crew were dealing with another incident.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure while crews investigated.
The incident turned out to be a false alarm caused by dust from building work.
