SHOTGUN-wielding robbers raided a petrol station before running off across a dual carriageway with stolen cash.

The raid happened at Willoughby Hedge service station on the A303 near Mere at 3.15am on January 23.

One of the men wore yellow marigold-style washing-up gloves.

A red Volkswagen Passat with cloned number plates was later recovered on the old drove road at the top of Chaddenwick Hill.

It had been abandoned after getting stuck in the mud.
