PUPILS from Leaden Hall School in Salisbury joined more than 80 children for a day of orchestral music.
The event at Monkton Combe School last week included participants from six different schools.
The Leaden Hall group was made up of two cellists, two viola players, seven violinists, one oboe player, one double bass player, one saxophonist and a flautist.
The day included full orchestral and section rehearsals, a mini concert from some of the senior school pupils, including the jazz group which showcased the art of improvisation, as well as a performance by the jazz orchestra.
After lunch the pupils were divided into four groups and rehearsed some improvisation and percussion pieces before a grand performance of the full orchestra playing The William Tell Overture and the theme from Wallace and Gromit in front of an audiences of parents and friends.
A spokesman for Leaden Hall said: "It was a splendid example of children concentrating hard and showing superb ensemble skills but most importantly having fun and enjoying music together.
One pupils from the school said it was "very education and a great experience".
