PREPARE for dragons and epic battles on the market square today (Sunday) as St George’s Day celebrations get under way.

There’ll be a host of free family events in Salisbury’s Market Place and Guildhall Square from 11am-4pm organised by Salisbury City Council.

Ticklish Allsorts will be putting on a Punch and Judy puppet show at 11.30am and 1.30pm in The Guildhall’s Crown Court.

A historical St George and Medieval Salisbury guided walk will leave the Guildhall at 12pm, led by a professional Blue Badge Guide, and the epic battle of George and the Dragon will follow in the Market Place at 3.30pm.

In the Old George Mall, the team from Salisbury Arts Centre will be making a dragon as part of a free community project, where live music and street theatre can also be enjoyed.

In The Maltings Wessex Community Circus will be practicing and teaching their circus skills.

There’s plenty for everyone, with cream teas in The Guildhall, live music and workshops throughout the day.
