ALF Baker celebrated his 101st birthday with champagne, cake and a family party at the Laverstock Care Centre.

Born in 1915, Alf remembers his father coming home from the First World War banging his drum as he rode through the streets on his horse.

Thirty years later Alf himself signed up for the Second World War and was posted to Africa.

Celebrating on March 30, Alf said he’s had a wonderful life and told stories of some of the changes he has seen over the years as well as his times at the fairground where he watched motorcyclists ride the wall of death.
