A school had to be evacuated this morning after a bomb alert.

Police received a call at 10.35am to say that there was a bomb at Ringwood School.  Police attended but believed it to be the same malicious false threats that have taken place across the country over the last few days.

The school was evacuated but pupils were allowed back in the classroom after half-an-hour.

In a statement the school said: "This morning at approximately 10.30am Ringwood School received a bomb alert via telephone to Reception.

"Schools across the country received a similar alert yesterday, including others in Hampshire.

"Following Police advice a full evacuation was undertaken and the school was searched for any suspicious items. Not such items were found.

"GCSE and A-Level Exams were interrupted for a short period. The students affected were looked after in isolation and given the appropriate time remaining to complete their exam.

"Ringwood School take such threats seriously, and despite an evacuation there was very little disruption to the school day. Our robust emergency procedures worked well and children are safe in school."
