A GIRL had her skirt pulled-up by a stranger on her walk to school this morning.

The 14-year-old was approached by the man from behind who lifted her skirt before apologising and walking off.

The incident happened at 8.35am along the riverside footpath in the underpass below the A36, next to Nelson Road, in Salisbury.

The girl, who was not hurt but was left shaken by what happened, continued on her way to school and reported the incident.

The man is described as white, with short brown hair, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall, of a medium build and “unkempt”. He was wearing a browny/green parka-style jacket and dark trousers and was carrying a plastic bottle of milk.

PC Steve Allen, from Amesbury police station, said: “The young girl did exactly the right thing in reporting this to the police.

“We understand this will be concerning for the community and we are carrying out increased patrols in the area. We want to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“However it is important that we trace this man and we are following a number of leads at the moment. I would appeal to anyone who saw anything unusual, or who recognises his description, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked should call PC Allen on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
