POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a series of incidents involving two men in Salisbury City Centre on Tuesday.

The first incident was in Brown Street Car Park at approximately 5.30pm where a man was seen to jump on the roof of a Mercedes car causing significant damage.

A second man, who was with the suspect, poured a can of beer over a woman when she challenged their behaviour. It is also thought that a number of other people became involved and attempted to stop the two men.

Shortly after this incident there was a robbery in Brewery Lane in which two men aged 27 and 24 from Salisbury were threatened and their mobile phones were stolen. No one was injured in the incidents.

Two men aged 22 and 24 from Salisbury have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and robbery, they are currently in Melksham custody.

Dc Charlotte Mason said: “Our investigation is ongoing and despite the fact that arrests have been made we still need anyone who has information regarding these incidents to come forward.

"I would particularly like to speak to the members of the public who attempted to stop the two men as they may have important information to help the investigation.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Mason at Salisbury CID on 101. Or call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
