An Amesbury couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Monday, August 8.

Eric and Jacquie Walker married in Andover in 1956 and lived in the area before moving to Amesbury.

They will be known to locals for running the Wavy Line Store in Bulford, before moving to run Amesbury China on Flower Lane, Amesbury.

Eric has always lived in the Wiltshire area, other than when serving in the Army in the 1950's.

He was in the famous 'Scots Greys', and regularly competed in military sports competitions, holding the record for the regimental timed mile for a period of 10 years.

Jacquie was originally from Somerset, but moved to Wiltshire on marrying Eric.

The couple share many interests, including gardening, but are at their happiest when around the house.

To celebrate their anniversary, a marquee tent was erected in the garden, with 60 people turning up for the event.

Jacquie cooked all the food herself, continuing a lifelong passion, which she says will not abate.

"I've loved cooking my whole life, and I didn't like the thought of the food coming from elsewhere, so I did it myself!

"It was a lovely celebration and one which me and Eric certainly won't forget."

The diamond couple have 3 Children, 6 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Eric said: "We are both healthy and fit, and the young-ones love coming round here.

"Its a good job we oil up the zimmer frames."
