TWO suspected drug dealers were arrested in Salisbury.

They were arrested on Friday by officers from the Dedicated Crime Team on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

Police say at about 11am, officers spotted a suspicious black Vauxhall Astra at the Barrington Road junction.

The vehicle was stopped and the two men inside were detained to allow for a search to be carried out. It was believed that one of the men had drugs concealed within his body.

The passenger, a 29-year-old man from Manchester, and the driver, a 28-year-old man from Liverpool, were both arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

PC Ian Tilley, of the Dedicated Crime Team, said: “We are committed to intercepting drug dealers from cities across the UK who travel to small counties like Wiltshire, where they think they will be able to target vulnerable drug users and get away with it. This could not be further from the truth.

“Drugs have a really negative and sometimes widespread effect on local communities – it is not just users who are affected as drugs can often lead to anti-social behaviour and serious crime.

“If you have concerns about drug activity in your area, please call police on 101.”
