HURRY! Tickets are selling fast for the Salisbury Journal Sports Awards.

The event, which is back for the first time in a decade, takes place at Salisbury FC on Friday, November 4.

The two-course gala dinner, which is a black tie event, will be served in a marquee.

There will be tables of eight on the night which will be compered by one of the leading names in athletics.

Welsh sprinter Iwan Thomas MBE, a champion 400-metre runner, has been unveiled as the host.

In a medal-winning career spanning 20 years, one of Thomas’ main achievements arrived at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 when he notched a silver medal in the 4x400m relay.

“I’m thrilled to be part of these awards. There was a time in my career when the Southampton track was under repair and I did a good deal of my training in Salisbury. It’s great to come back to support those who are doing great things in sport in the area.”

Hundreds of people are set to attend what promises to be an action-packed event at the football stadium.

Anyone wishing to attend, including nominees, must buy a £40 ticket.
