NEWSPAPERS are now well placed to benefit from new technology, the editor of the Salisbury Journal told a meeting in Salisbury tonight.

He said the brand loyalty of publications such as the Journal had in their community was carrying across to the website.

In his address to the Salisbury and District RSA, Bill Browne said: “We have had to work hard to ensure we deliver the news and information our readers want across both platforms.

“But I am pleased to report we have a huge number of readers and followers both in print and online.

“Today we talk about total audience and for the Journal that is 72,000 a week. Not only this, the power of our software allows us to know who is visiting our website and what they are looking for, which is tremendously important when it comes to helping our advertisers target their customers.”

The RSA meets once a quarter. Its next meeting will be at the Friends Meeting house, 51 Wilton Road, Salisbury, on June 20th, 6.30pm where Helen Birchenough, chairman of Salisbury Festival, Ross Sanderson and Kayleigh McCormick from Life Rocks and Peter Riley, curator of the Young Gallery, will discuss “The Future of the Arts in Salisbury.”
