PLANS to build 16 houses on a greenfield site in Porton have been lodged.

The outline planning application for a three-acre field opposite Horefield Close in Idmiston Road, comprises 12 three-bed houses and four three-bed affordable homes.

Submitted by local farmer Stuart Ingram, the plans are out to consultation. People can have their say until May 11.

The site, which lies between Porton and Idmiston, is identified as a potential plot for development in the Neighbourhood Plan.

The neighbourhood plan, which was voted through by villagers in a referendum on Thursday, says the site could take 20 houses.

A planning statement, prepared as part of the application submission, states: “The proposed development has been the subject of some initial consultation with the residents of both villages.

“The comments received to date have helped to inform the scale mix and other elements of the proposed layout which would include the delivery of affordable housing and some bungalows for potential occupation by older residents.

“The site forms agricultural land which rises from the road as a gentle incline and the proposed development would not breach the ridge of the land.”

It adds the site layout would provide “significant private amenity space” for all the proposed dwellings, affordable housing and bungalows to provide homes suitable for old people.

It would also give overflow parking for the nearby school at drop-off and pick-up times as well as nearby residents.
