PUPILS at Alderbury and West Grimstead Primary School went on a journey of discovery to explore cultures from around the globe.
The school hosted and multi-cultural day on Tuesday which featured a variety of fun workshops.
Parents, governors, friends of the school and staff from Wiltshire Council’s ethnic minority advisory team led sessions throughout the day for all 185 pupils.
The day was organised by teacher and religious education leader, Eric Malmberg, who said: “Everyone was amazed and impressed with how the children moved through seven workshops, room to room, joining in and working hard – the visitors were full of compliments for the behaviour and attitude of the children."
The children got to find out more about Hindu and Sikh culture and beliefs, Polish food, dress and customs, Jewish culture, Hebrew dance and song as well as Islam and Chinese New Year.
They also got the opportunity to try out Lebanese belly dancing with Waafa Powell.
The school was able to run the workshops thanks to a grant from Sarum St Michael’s Education Trust along with the help of willing volunteers in the community.
