CHILDREN in Salisbury are being invited to help create a buzz about bees by entering a story writing competition.
The Camping in the Forest’s Bella the Bee competition, which will be judged by wildlife expert Chris Packham, is looking for children in Year 3 to come up with their own short story about Bella the Bee’s camping adventures.
Chris Packham said: “Not only are bees incredibly cute, but they are also integral to our ecosystem and their numbers are sadly dwindling fast.
“Getting kids involved in bee conservation is a great way to educate future generations on protecting these precious species and what’s more, they have great imaginations for storytelling.
“I am thrilled to be involved with Camping in the Forest again this year and am very much looking forward to reading their stories.”
The competition runs until June 2. The winning child will receive a week-long family camping holiday at a Camping in the Forest campsite of their choice, and £100 activity vouchers; while their school wins a visit and wildlife assembly from Chris Packham, plus a £500 donation to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust on their behalf.
