SALISBURY personal trainer Andreas Beirne pushed his body to the limit in searing temperatures on Saturday to complete two miles of burpees, raising over £5,500 for Combat Stress.

Andreas set off from Hudson’s Field at 10am, and arrived at Cathedral Close four hours and 45 mins later, completing 1,603 burpees – each one a squat thrust made from and ending in a standing position.

Andreas, a former physical training instructor in the Royal Logistic Corps, was attached to the Queen’s Gurkha Logistics and toured in both Afghanistan and the Falkland Islands.

He said: “The support I received from my family and friends, my Parafit Boot Campers and the people of Salisbury was just phenomenal.”

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity and offers free support for a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.
