WILTSHIRE has a new chief crown prosecutor after Joanne Jakymec was appointed to head the Crown Prosecution Service Wessex on Monday, June 26.

Jakymec, 44, will be the chief prosecutor for the CPS working with the Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire police forces.

She has vowed to encourage public confidence in the justice system and to work closely with scrutiny panels for hate crimes and violence against women and girls.

Ms Jakymec said: “I am genuinely delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Wessex.

“CPS Wessex is made up of a highly motivated group of people. Our staff are passionate and committed to striving for excellence to deliver a high quality service to victims and witnesses.

“Bringing offenders to justice can sometimes be a real challenge but our prosecutors are independent and strive for fairness whilst making their decisions in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors.

“Although these decisions can sometimes be unpopular we aim to make the right decisions and to deliver a high quality service to the public we serve.”
