PUPILS of all nationalities have come together at a Salisbury school to celebrate its diversity with an International Day.
St Osmund’s Catholic Primary is Wiltshire’s most culturally diverse school and the event on July 7 was a celebration of its togetherness. It was also a learning experience for the children as they took part in morning workshops including African Dance, Polish Story Setting and Indian Wedding Attire. Parents were invited in the afternoon as the children shared what makes each culture special with traditional food, dance and singing.
Headteacher Richard Sanderson said: “We have families from many different countries – India, the Philippines, Spain, Poland, Fiji, Nigeria, Pakistan, to name but a few – and they all came together and provided a wonderful array of world foods and fantastic cultural entertainment.
“The atmosphere all day was one of celebration and unity. My sincere thanks go to all the parents and staff for making the day an amazing success.”
