VISITORS to Salisbury District Hospital got a bit of a surprise this morning (Thursday) as staff trained for a chemical incident.
Staff from the hospital, working with other emergency services, underwent the training on the A&E ramp between 9.30am and 12.30pm, with staff acting as casualties.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “This is one of a number of major incident training exercises that the trust carries out throughout the year for its staff. It does involve other partner agencies such as the fire service as observers.
“We will have information available for patients to let them know that this is not a real incident.”
The spokesman added that the training exercise should have no impact on the services provided at the hospital.
