A FREE dawn screening of Second World War drama Saving Private Ryan is being held at the Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge.

The film, which stars Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, is being shown at 7am on Remembrance Sunday (November 12).

Brian Currie, the chairman of Fordingbridge Regal Cinema Club, said he was “keen to see a film on Sunday that shows the reality of the sacrifices made for us all”.

The film is rated 15 and should end before 10am, leaving enough time to attend the Remembrance Day Parade in the town.

There will be a collection for the Royal British Legion for anyone who would like to make a donation.

Anyone needing wheelchair assistance should contact the Regal Cinema prior to the screening by emailing office@theregalcinema.org.

The revamped art deco style cinema reopened to the public in July after closing more than 50 years ago.

The Regal Cinema first opened in 1933 but closed in 1965 before it became a pottery business. The pottery business closed in 2012 and in 2016 Corintech purchased the site.
