A MAN tried to buy tobacco using a fake £50 note in an Amesbury newsagents.
The man presented a shop assistant in McColls, in Salisbury Road, with a counterfeit £50 to pay for tobacco and cigarette papers.
But when challenged by staff, the man left the note and walked out of the store.
Police have just released information about the incident, which took place between 11am and 11.40am on September 11.
The man is described as white with a tanned complexion, aged mid to late 20s. He was approximately 5ft 6inches tall and had dark hair.
He was wearing a green jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.
