A DOCTOR from Salisbury District Hospital is raising money for a second MRI scanner by auctioning a piece of her original artwork, signed by two Formula 1 legends.

In a bid to raise money towards the Stars Appeal’s £1.5 million target, Dr Natalia Roszkowski has produced a framed acrylic painting depicting the moment Damon Hill crossed the finish line in Suzuka in 1996 to win the F1 World Title, after which commentator Murray Walker famously exclaimed: “And I have to stop now because I’ve got a lump in my throat.”

Dr Roszkowski originally set her sights on becoming an artist but, having witnessed first-hand the incredible work done by doctors at Salisbury Hospital when she was 16, she chose a career in medicine.

She now works as a radiologist in Salisbury’s new Breast Unit, which was built entirely from funds raised by the Stars Appeal, and said: “I’m supporting the Stars Appeal MRI scanner campaign as a second scanner will enable us to see more patients sooner and continue to provide accurate diagnoses using the latest technology.”

Both Hill and Walker have signed the piece, which is now being sold by silent auction.

The picture measures 708mmx607mm, is beautifully framed and ready to hang. It is also signed by the artist.

Bids should be emailed to the Stars Appeal info@starsappeal.org or posted to Stars Appeal, Salisbury District Hospital, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP2 8BJ. The painting may be viewed at the hospital by prior arrangement.
